ENCOURAGEMENT

Now you know of a proven plan that can help your child to recover.  You can do this!

HEBREWS 12:1b

…let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.

That was the verse that my husband taped to the inside of our cabinet that had all of Jacob’s supplements in it.

________

JEREMIAH 29:11

“For I know the plans I have for you”, declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

This has been my life verse for many, many years.  Then either before Jacob was born or soon after, we felt that we should also give this as a life verse to him.  This was before we knew that he was going to have developmental problems.

________

It’s time to move from hopelessness, anger, or resentment to hope.  Chances are that your child’s condition is reversible.  The status quo cannot be acceptable.  It’s going to be hard work on your part, but for our family it was easier than what we were doing before.

Yes, there has been a lot of misinformation for one reason or another that has caused harm to our bodies.  Yet, unforgiveness will only paralize us and keep us from being productive in helping ourselves and our loved ones to recover.  So refocus that anger, forgive, and move forward.

My husband and I were given Jacob’s name miraculously.  I had been online looking up baby boy names and had not begun writing them down, until I got to the name Jacob, so that name ended up being at the top of the list.  It wasn’t a name that stood out to me, and my husband and I had not ever known anyone by that name.  The list was put away and forgotten about in a pile of papers, before I had even begun looking up girl names.  Then one day I was in the shower and that named popped into my head in such a strong way that I thought I should tell my husband.  I had never felt anything like that before, it was just very strange.  His eyes widened, and he said that the same thing happened to him in the shower that day too.  I said, “I think we’re going to have a boy someday, and I think we’re supposed to name him Jacob.”  This revelation from the Holy Spirit was so helpful to us because a year and a half later we got pregnant and had a miscarriage.  We continued having three more first tri-mester miscarriages, before Jacob came along.  We didn’t give up hope because we knew God had a plan for a child and that it was to happen in His timing, not ours.
